VMware to Hyper-V

Broadcom’s VMware licensing is now subscription-only, with a 16-core minimum per processor and bundled tiers. Hyper-V is already included in your Windows Server license, with live migration, failover clustering and replication built in.

Between March and April 2026 our engineers ran four VMware to Hyper-V migrations at the same time, more than 100 virtual machines in all, and finished every one on schedule, including one with a hard VMware expiry and no grace period.

Every workload, license and dependency recorded before we quote.

2. Plan and test

A written cutover plan and a test migration of representative systems.

3. Cut over and verify

After hours, with a rollback path, and the old system kept until the new one is proven.

A quote is a quote. Every project is quoted complete and fixed: hardware, licensing, labor and migration. If we leave out a component the design needs, we supply it at no charge. No change orders for our own omissions.

Frequently asked questions

Will my staff notice the migration?

Production cutovers happen on nights and weekends. Staff log in Monday to the new system.

Do I need to buy new servers to leave VMware?

Not always. If your hosts are under warranty and support Windows Server 2025, we can rebuild them on Hyper-V. If they are aging, a hardware refresh and the migration together usually cost less than doing either twice.

How long does a VMware to Hyper-V migration take?

It depends on the number of virtual machines and their dependencies. We give you the schedule with the fixed quote, after the inventory.
